“We visited our family here in Brighton (the Fergusons) and were drawn to the area”, Sean Sheppard shared with great pride. Sheppard and wife, Shawn, now wed 22 years, moved quickly a year ago to buy the failing Gosport General Store and give it new life re-branded, Presqu’ile Bay Outfitters. The family of four including 14 year-old daughter, Zoey, and 17 year old son, Zenon, settled above the store, enabling the whole family to focus their entrepreneurial flair to better serve outdoor enthusiasts.
BIRTHDAY BASH THIS SUNDAY
Sunday, June 30th, 2013, is the stores first anniversary. The public is invited to a party from noon to 2:00 pm; this is a “go to” event in the Presqu’ile area. Free hamburgers and hot dogs is the family’s way of saying, “thank you”, to the community. A backdrop of live music featuring Jesse Jones and the Presqu’ile Bay Outfitter’s sponsored race car will add to the fun. A scoop of Reid’s ice cream for just $1 will go over well if the heat wave persists.
HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY PRESQU’ILE BAY OUTFITTERS!
For a fun excursion, the store can put in you in good stead to enjoy the bay only steps away. You can rent a kayak or a canoe for as little as $35 for a half day. The tandem kayak shown here looks like great fun–even on asphalt. Pick-up a new lure and some worms and drop a line in the bay.
The shop features hunting products such as bows, cross-bows, scents, duck calls, and, complete fishing gear. Conveniences and goodies endemic to camp and cottage locations are also to be found. There is plenty of reason to hang around including a dart board and a pin ball machine–not to mention good banter and a cup of top quality coffee. For the pooches, a hitching post, water station and free treats do the trick.
